The Institute of Failure Analysis (IFA) analyze various aspects of damages and failures in engineering systems in order to determine the cause of failure, and to prevent recurring of failure events.

IFA operates fully equiped Materials Laboratory (The Central engineering laboratory) in which applicable examinations are being carried out, using advanced instrumentation, in order to provide analytical results.

The institute expertise supports the following issues

Post damage prognosis and root cause analysis
Characterization of the failure event mechanism to be gradual or sudden, identification the failure root cause (design / manufacture / maintenance / operation). Consultancy for preventive procedures, detection devices and design of manufacturing improvements.

Expert opinion to courts
Diverse areas of damage to be advised, analysed, reported and witnessed by Israeli leading experts of the institue.

Industrial oil lubrication diagnostics for preventive maintenance
Periodic monitoring of machine wear spectroscopy that correlates with equipment condition and lubricant physical condition analysis. Troubleshooting of lubricated oil systems, supported by ANALYST Inc.

Consultancy and preventive design
Consists of system design and installation control on various specialization fields. The Institute projects are taylor-made solutions in fields of electronics, mechanics, aviation, industry, transportation & construction.
The laboratory is operating under the Israeli Laboratory Accreditation Authority (ILAA) supervision and it performs in accordance with specification ISO 17025.

Laboratory services
Full metallic or non-metallic material evaluation, including: sectioning & metalographic sample preparation, microscopic inspection from X50 up to X100,000 (SEM), material and mechanical properties, measurment, corrosion behavior, flammability response.

Analysis of fire events
Characterization and evaluation of materials by flammability standards. Locating points of fire origin, burning routes and diverse fire issues within fire & arson sites.
